WHEN AM I ALLOWED TO GET MAJOR MEDICAL?

There are many different times when one is allowed to enroll in Individual Major Medical Plans.  Below are the times one is allowed.                           

  • Medicare-  3 months before or 3 months after the month one is eligible for medicare.  This is typically when someone turns 65.   They can also enroll or change plans between October 15th & December 7th.  

  • Covered CA- Open enrollment has been extended to August 15th 2021

  • Federal Market Place. Open enrollment has been extended to August 15th 2021

IS THERE AFFORDABLE HEALTH INSURANCE AVAILABLE?

WHAT KIND OF PLANS ARE AVAILABLE UNDER MEDICARE?

Medicare Plans typically fall into 3 categories listed below.  

  • Original Medicare- Only included Part A and Part B where you are responsible for 20% of the cost of your medical use.  You are also required to purchase a separate Part D plan prescription drug Plan.  

  • Medicare Advantage- There are all different kinds of plans.  Most will include prescription drugs along with additional benefits beyond original Medicare, such as gym membership and vision insurance.  Plans start as low as a $0 premium.  

  • Medicare Supplement - For an additional cost these plans give you the freedom to go to any doctor that accepts original medicare with added benefits that go beyond original Medicare.   You will also have to purchase Part D covereage with these plans

IS DENTAL INSURANCE INCLUDED?

Unfortunately, dental insurance isn't included in major medical plans.  However, there are plenty of carriers that offer affordable rates. With the increase in subsidies many of our clients find they can afford to enroll in a dental plan.

CAN I GET MAJOR MEDICAL OUTSIDE OF OPEN ENROLLMENT?

If you lost coverage or were unable to get coverage due to a life changing event you may qualify for a Special Enrollment. Below are some examples that may qualify you for a Special Enrollment.  Call (866) 658-3417  for addition Details details.                          

  • Move outside your medical service area. 

  • You lose credible coverage due to leaving a previous employer.

  • Unable to enroll during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period due to a natural disaster

  • Loss of Medicaid due to an increase in monthly income.  

  • Covid-19 special enrollment (Ends August 15th 2021)

Whether you are looking for a Medicare Advantage Plan or a under 65 Major Medical you may be surprised as to what is out there.  There are numerous Medicare Advantage Plans that have a $0 PREMIUM.  As it relates to under age 65 plans, most individuals qualify for FEDERAL SUBSIDIES thru the federal Market Place and Covered CA.   The Affordable Care Act, commonly called Obama Care, just recently expanded who is eligible for these federal subsidies.  Call for a NO CHARGE consultation to see what is available and what you qualify for in your area.

I HAVE A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION CAN I STILL GET INSURED?

Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), insurance companies can't refuse major medical coverage for your pre-existing condition or charge you more.
